Where to find the best thrift stores in Portland, Oregon
It’s no secret that Portland, Oregon has a robust vintage and antique culture. Because of that, the local thrift stores seem bare and empty. But sometimes, you just want to dig for clothes and furniture for an affordable price which is just good old fashioned thrift shopping. Here are our three favorite places to dig for clothes in the city of Portland:
#3) Goodwill Bins
5950 NE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97230
The reason why the Goodwill Bins are worth it is because you pay by the pound for clothing, so it’s incredibly affordable. Though, the Bins are not for the faint of heart! It’s time consuming and these items Goodwill is ready to trash, so oftentimes you’re sifting through literal trash. So before you plan your trip, be prepared for the bins. But when you find something in the bins it is totally worth it.
#2) William Temple House Thrift Store
2230 NW Glisan St, Portland, OR 97210
Located in a very busy and cool part of Portland, this unassuming thrift store often has great clothes, houseware and furniture. It’s a local favorite to donate, so stuff is cycled through often. It’s a small store so it can be a quick browse but still worth checking out.
#1) Village Merchant
4035 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97202
Portland’s best thrift store isn’t a thrift store. It’s a local institution. Village Merchant a locally owned sell and consignment shop, this isn’t exactly a thrift store since it has a level of curation. But, the prices are right there with what you would associate as thrift prices. Meanwhile the curation is top notch so you’ll surely find clothes, cookware, furniture you’ll love.
Honorable Mention: Red White & Blue Thrift Store
19239 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Gladstone, OR 97027
Our real favorite thrift store in Portland, isn’t in Portland at all. This cash only place is a thrifters paradise and well worth the trip. The best place to dig for clothes and one of our favorite places to go to dig for clothes outside of Portland.
