Three Vintage Malls Besides House of Vintage

Feb. 10, 2025 / Portland

Where to find the best vintage stores in Portland

House of Vintage on Hawthorne is probably the most popular place to shop for vintage clothes in Portland. And, it’s for good reason – it has a huge selection and a great diversity of vendors for any level of shopper. But, if you’re looking for some alternatives to spend some time going through curated and old clothes, we got you covered.

Just a point of clarification – this isn’t a list of the best thrift stores in Portland. This is a level up than thrifting. These vintage malls have sellers that have already done a level of curation, so on a large scale, you’re guaranteed to see better quality of clothes than thrifting. Which also means you’re also guaranteed to expect higher of a price point than thrifting. But, that shouldn’t get you down! There’s still plenty of room to feel like you’re getting a deal.

#3) Northwest Union

738 NW 23rd Ave, Portland, OR 97210 (Hours: 11am-7pm, 7 days a week)

Righton Northwest 23rd street, in the heart of Nob Hill what looks like an unassuming small house is a deceivingly huge maze of vintage clothes with vendors with diverse and great curation. Within walking distance from my home, this is home base for me, so I’m a bit biased. But I will say, I’ve found more pieces in my closet here (and for reasonable prices) than any other second hand store in Portland. Plus, being in a walkable area, make a day out of strolling 23rd while eating some great food, getting some coffee or even hitting up William Temple House for more thrift finds.

#2) Memory Den

2230 NW Glisan St, Portland, OR 97210 (Hours: 11am-7pm, 7 days a week)

Located on the eastside of the Morrison Bridge, this warehouse converted into a vintage clothing, furniture, and arthouse offers a day’s worth of fun. I don’t think I can overstate how huge this place is. If you’re really looking at every 140+ vendors of memory den, it will take upwards of three hours. But if you really like digging, you will not regret it. You’ll find pieces of all sorts of eras. We’ve come here when we’re looking for specific clothing types and find them. This place is a Portland institution. It’s a must visit. And along the way you’ll find great interactive booths of funky 70s furniture, 90s tech, and so so so much more.

#1) Hollywood Vintage

2757 Northeast Pacific Street, Portland, OR 97232 (Hours: 11am-6pm, 7 days a week)

Clothes. This place is dedicated to clothes. Located just outside of the Hollywood district, this store has 60+ vendors that fill up this former theater’s walls and it’s a glorious, beautiful place. When people come to visit us and ask us to go vintage shopping we ask “how dedicated are you?” with the sole intention on if they can withstand digging at Hollywood vintage. Great prices, great curation that again will take upwards of three hours to go through the whole store. Actually, I was surprised to find out this spot “only” has 60 vendors, because we’ll spend as much time (if not more) here than we will at Memory Den. Maybe because most vendors are dedicated to clothing. I don’t know, but this is number one in my heart forever.
